You will feel the difference with the initial contact with the human factor. People smiling, warm, sweet active, which maintains the principles and traditional values as a pupil, to respect and perpetuate downstream, with the same reverence that they did their forefathers.

Worth mentioning are the beaches of Tavari - epineiou of Mesotopos and virgin beaches of Xrousos and Podaras. H-rich cultural activities of the associations of the village is known in many parts of the world, and the carnival, which revives every year and brings clear evidence of the Dionysiac rites.

In the village, we will find the magnificent neoclassical building which houses the School, the Folk Museum, the Cultural Center, traditional coffee shops and facilities of the newly established Women's Cooperative while on the beach of  Tavari, there are few picturesque taverns with sea view. The village offers for relaxation, to those who seek an escape from the busy modern lifestyles, to live in other rates, simpler, more close to human nature ...

Eressos is built four kilometers above the sea between a dry volcanic volumes, maintains the traditional solid color. The great mansions that adorn the village, witness the economic and cultural boom that the place has. Special interest is the «Theofrasteio», one of the most beautiful school of Lesvos with several new-classical architectural elements. Today in this building housed the Primary School and High School of  Eressos.

A straight road of 4 km. with tree-lined blackberries left and right forming massive arches of green, joining Eressos with its beach area. This road is through over the green plains of Eressos with trimmed gardens, abundant water and beautiful holiday homes, to arrive at Skala of Eressos, where the jewel of Eressos located, its famous beach which stretching of 3 km in length. Clear like crystal blue waters and wide sandy beach with fine gray sand, do not leave unmoved nor the most demanding visitor. From this beach, you can distinguish Chios and Psara islands.

As we continue our tour, we meet Sigri which in the past had been a port protected by the small islands to its west, from which the biggest is Nisiopi, as well as by the small fortress, which is by the sea. Today it is a very well organised summer resort frequented by many tourists, with many beautiful beaches and fresh fish. The sunset in Sigri is enchanting and unforgettable spectacle, as we watch the sun "diving" into the waters of the Aegean Sea.

IIn the area of Eressos - Antissa and Sigri, there is the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, a natural monument unique in Europe. It's creation is based on volcano activity in the area dates from over 20,000,000. years ago. Trees, pines, palms, sekoies, laurels, beeches, parts of plants such as leaves, fruits, seeds, situated throughout the area. The bright colors, so alive that confuse the visitor on the property but both this world alive. Shades of red to brown, to orange, the coral, yellow, the sparkling blue, dazzle and enchant.

The forest is a unique and rare book by itself. It provides us with information, not only for the plants and the trees, but for the weather, the biological conditions, and the movement of the earth that shaped this entire area. During the excavations, the biggest lawn in the entire Europe was found. The lawns height is 7,02 meters and it’s peripheral is 8,58 meters. It is an ancient form of the tree Sekoia. Today in the park as well as in the museum of natural history, anyone can admire this wonderful world and even feel the natural history of this place even just for a little while.
